The Spine Sweat Class of 2020

We are the spine sweat class of 2020. Our semester (and our businesses) were disrupted in an unprecedented way this year due to COVID-19. As entrepreneurs, we know the importance of being able to use the resources at hand and pivot at times of uncertainty. Our opportunities may have changed, but collectively we adapted and completed projects for the "Modified Spine Sweat Experience." We wish we could have had the chance to present to the distinguished judges, but given the circumstances, we know that was not possible. In place of the presentations, we created this webpage to tell you a little bit more about who we are. Thank you for your support!

About

Salomon Levy

I am currently working on a couple of businesses that are in the event and media space.

1. An auction house that aims to switch the assumption of auctions from its traditional design to an auction event designed to cater to the unique desires of a younger generation.

2. A music newsletter that sends a playlist every week to a targeted college demographic.

In the video above, you can hear a little bit more about what I enjoy doing.

In the video below, you can see a little pitch on what my music newsletter is:

Josh Bromberg

Hoo was founded out of a need for a better way. I was extremely frustrated with the existing ways to find great restaurants, so I decided to take the problem into my own hands. Hoo is the result of many pivots and user interviews. It is a social app that allows users to see where their friends are eating and share restaurant experiences. It is a visually-focused platform with photos at the core of its content. The potential for Hoo is massive and I have seen massive demand for a platform like this from the people I have spoken to first hand.

I have started several online businesses in the past generating revenues upwards of $500,000 and leading a virtual team of 5. My background is primarily in marketing and I have managed a social media advertising budget of $200,000. I am also a self-taught developer and have been writing all of the code for Hoo. I love coming up with creative ways to solve problems and I hope to change the way people eat at restaurants forever.

Please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] if you have any questions or would like to learn more.

Mikayla Geier

My name is Mikayla Geier and I am a ballet major in the Jacobs School of Music and Entrepreneurship and corporate innovation major in the Kelley School of Business. I’m also a singer-songwriter and released my first single this year which now has around 180,000 listens on spotify. I’m originally from Vancouver, Canada but have also lived in Grand Rapids Michigan and Washington D.C.

Sanil Sawlani

My name is Sanil Sawlani and I’m an incoming junior at Kelley. Before coming to college, I had no idea what entrepreneurship really was, but in a short two years, I’ve been able to be a part of multiple ventures and find passion in the innovation sector. Aside from business, I enjoy Joe Rogan Podcasts, learning about psychology, and basketball.

Currently, I’m working on Frap. Frap is an organizational management tool focused on Greek life. With an app and web backend, we make it easy for fraternity and sorority leadership to manage their chapters. With a controlled beta, we were able to reach 1500 users in 7 weeks and earn $4000 in revenue. We are gearing up for a big launch when school returns and are working with national organizations in the meantime. Check us out at www.frapapp.com, and reach out with any questions at [email protected]!

Daniel Guerra

My name is Daniel Guerra and I am from Glastonbury, Connecticut. I am a Senior Entrepreneurship + Finance major in Kelley. I am working on a start-up on campus with a few colleagues. Our company, Lance, is a centralized booking platform for freelance photographers. We are helping connect freelance photographers to students, organizations, and businesses that would like high quality photos faster and cheaper than traditional freelancers. Check out my app below.

I would like to note that my scope and ambitions range far beyond Lance. On campus, I am involved with the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Charles Schwab Private Wealth Management Workshop, and Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization. I also bartend at Kilroys! Next summer I am moving out to San Francisco to work in business technology as a Category Specialist with Walmart eCommerce. I would love to eventually work for myself on a business relating to combating the effects of climate change, mental health, or simply just improving people’s day to day lives in some shape or form. I can’t wait to move out west and begin connecting with people in Silicon Valley.

Hunter Hawley

I’m Hunter Hawley, a rising senior at IU from Cloverport, Kentucky. Having grown up in a town of roughly 1,000, three realities sunk in fast: the internet is your way out, everyone is playing basketball (so you’d better too), and jobs are few and far between, so make your own. When I got to Bloomington, my previous limitations were taken off, and I’ve been making the most of it since day one.

My freshman year, I started Blueprint Stats to combine my passions for basketball, technology, and entrepreneurship. I started by taking stats for a couple of teams back home using YouTube videos of their film, and have slowly developed the technology so that we can now offer teams full breakdowns of their game footage, complete with shot charts, lineup analysis, and season trends. Throughout my last year of school, I am taking this side hustle and incorporating machine learning to scale it to thousands of teams across the country.

Chase Rosett

Chase previously worked at Detroit Venture Partners and Plug And Play Tech Center. Chase holds a BS in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Indiana University and is a candidate for CFA Level II. After graduation, Chase will be an analyst at Tyree & D’Aneglo Partners in Chicago.

Throughout Spine Sweat, Chase worked on Rent Designer. At first, he thought Rent Designer was a men’s rental clothing website. After pivoting to a peer-to-peer rental clothing website, Chase finally pivoted to peer-to-peer rental purse platform.

Tijmen van der maas

Tijmen has lived in four different countries and gone to five different schools but he is entirely committed to work on the opportunities he gets.

His business, Maas Beverages LLC, was incorporated, and had already made its first purchase order and manufacturing contract when the contracts were cancelled or at least delayed by the coronavirus. Tijmen has worked hard on his classes, his previous jobs (at a warehouse, a building supplies retailer, and as the founder of Maas Beverages), and every opportunity he has been given, and is now excited to be working on his next opportunity at law school: with a high LSAT and GPA, he wants to be in the top of his field, whatever he’s pursuing.

Get in touch with Tijmen if you need someone who’s enthusiastic, quick to learn, and committed to whatever he’s doing, whether it’s philosophy, business, or anything in between.

christina randall

Hi, I’m Christina. I am working on startups in the ocean tech space from women’s board shorts to surf headphones. Previously, Product Marketing at Google, Sales & Trading at Credit Suisse, and after graduation I will be working in Sales at Bloomberg LP in San Francisco. When not on the zoom meeting, you can’t find me because I’ll be surfing. To survive within society, you can find me working on projects in health & wellness, ocean sustainability, and clean tech. Go Hoosiers!

Branden Moore

Branden Moore started his college career being a student-athlete on Indiana University’s Men’s Football Program, while pursuing a double major in the Kelley School of Business. After facing injuries, he focused on his Finance and Entrepreneurship & Corporate Innovation majors. This past summer he interned at Abbott’s Global Vascular Team in Silicon Valley, of which he embraced an unparalleled experience.

He has accepted a full-time position within Abbott’s Finance Professional Development Program. He is eager for this two year international program that will propel him into his financial career. To further his entrepreneurial endeavours, he will launch his very first startup NAGEV SKIN. They deliver affordable and beautiful products to help customers get Back to Natural Skin. Make sure you follow @nagevskin to stay updated.

Ayush Sarawgi

The process of Entrepreneurship has taught me that primary research is of utmost importance and the entrepreneurial journey of iteration and research serves as a constant source of learning which is all the basis to continue forward. I learned that control and timing is everything. Living in 2020, we have a plethora of tools at our disposal, one can outsource expertise and manage teams or do it themselves but it’s always a constant battle of time and control. Having a vision and a creative outlook is one of the most beautiful virtues of the human brain. I see a future with automation and strive for perfection in all my endeavors.

I am from Bhutan. I am currently studying Entrepreneurship and Economic Consulting with public policy at the Kelley School of Business. I plan on doing a Masters of Science in Information Systems and lead the MadeItLand startup after my undergraduate.
